Vintage Ribbon Co. Rosette 40 Japanese straight razor in NOS condition

This Ribbon Co. Rosette 40 is a special design that was used to teach barbers to shave with a straight. The shape is very forgiving. The point of this blade allows for nimble and easy manipulation around tight areas while minimizing cuts. Also the heel is nice and rounded for comfort as well. The shorter than normal blade length means that less edge will be in contact with the beard at one time. This reduces drag and creates a smoother shaving feel.

This particular blade has a sturdy half hollow grind which you can see in the grind profile shot of the blade. This grind is paired with high hardness carbon steel alloy for an optimal shaving experience.

This is wonderful shaver and a great addition to any shaving rotation for your next SOTD.
