Vintage Meiho 170 Deluxe Tamako Tamahagane Japanese straight razor in NOS condition w/ Original Box!

This Meiho is made out of Tamako or Tamahagane steel which is derived from Japanese iron sands. It is one of the highest quality steels made in Japan due to its very high carbon content and extremely fine grain. Classically it would take a Japanese blacksmith days without sleep to produce a small amount of this treasured material. The purity of this steel allows for a very sharp edge that will hold its sharpness longer than other steels. It features a classic shoulder less design which makes this blade easy to navigate the face and also makes honing easier. This is a phenomenal shaver! Be careful, Tamahagane steel shaves so well it can become addictive. This will assuredly be one of your favorite razors in your collection!

Condition note: There is some shallow pitting in one side of the blade which has been smoothed to prevent corrosion. This has no effect on shaving performance. As long as it is dried well after use and kept in a dry place, it will remain the same for many years.

This is a process that requires much time and skill. Every razor is sanitized with alcohol before being securely packed. Note that due to age, all vintage blades will have imperfections.
