😮 WOW ~ Vintage Iwasaki 30M Swedish Steel Japanese straight razor
Hand made by Iwasaki, this razor is crafted out of a custom formulation of high carbon Swedish steel. These 30 series blades are some of the best work in Iwasaki history. They perform similarly to the legendary Iwasaki tamahagane line of western straight razors. The properties of this steel are outstanding. Not only is it fine grain and high purity, it has been pushed to the optimal hardness level for this steel. In this case it is a high HRC somewhere in the 63 HRC to 64 HRC range. Iwasaki is a master at this and knows to limits of each steel, tempering each blade individually so that it has extraordinary edge retention without becoming brittle. This man had a talent for working steel to deliver it’s maximum potential. When this razor is honed, it feels like silk on the stones and takes a extremely fine bevel for a butter smooth shaving edge.
This hollow grind is designed to give you a high precision shave in a comfortable way. The blade will flex slightly and allow the edge to pass over the contours the face with ease. These Iwasaki razors shave unlike anything else. What you can do in one pass with this razor might take two or three passes with other blades. Truly amazing.
The razor fits snugly in the original semi opaque pearl tone scales. The pearl color looks a bit blotchy from certain angles and clear from others. There are some light surface imperfections in the steel, and overall it is very clean. It is beautiful in the photos but even better in person. This is a razor for a collector or someone that wants the absolute best. A top class shaver and piece of art fit for your collection or shaving rotation!

Shave ready honing service complementary with purchase! I guarantee a smooth shaving edge. Customers are delighted by the smooth and comfortable shaving edge on my blades. This razor will be finished on a high end Suehiro, Naniwa, Ozuku or Nakayama Japanese natural stone with a taped spine and then will be stropped with a fine Kanayama cordovan strop for the ultimate sharp and smooth shaving edge. This is a process that requires much time and skill. Every razor is sanitized with alcohol before being securely packed. Note that due to age, all vintage blades will have imperfections. All sales are final and all items are sold as is.
